Epoxy resin and fiberglass can be used to create a watertight seal over wood boat hulls. Resin infusion is a great process by which to accomplish this.
The video below demonstrates how the cedar-stripped boat hull is completed first, and having a smooth and consistent surface. Then dry fiberglass cloth is applied to the hull and held in place with spray glue.
Infusion bagging materials are then applied. The bag is sealed and the infusion is underway. The end of the video shows the completed results of a successful infusion using epoxy resin.
Their process worked, but the layout of the resin feed and vacuum was unique. Most of the resin infusion that I have done and seen would have been laid out differently. This demonstrates that there is more than one way to successfully complete this process.
